Facing Masonry Blocks
Washed by the wavesPlanished Facing Masonry has a semi-polished, gently undulating surface which is both durable and tactile. The subtle “washed by the waves” texture is created by raising the pieces of stone aggregate so that they sit fractionally proud of the background matrix. This distinctive finish adds character and a depth of appearance which brings the masonry to life in a way not normally associated with polished masonry.
Lustrous and distinctive
Polished Facing Masonry can be used internally or externally and is available in a variety of colours, some subtle and some bold. The polishing process exposes the inherent stone particles to give a stylish and enduring finish with an elegant lustre. Designers may choose to use Polished Masonry en masse in large panels, or in conjunction with other materials that complement the differing shades of the carefully selected aggregates.
The look and durability of solid stone
Our pioneering Stone-Faced Masonry enables clients to achieve the look and durability of solid stone but at a fraction of the cost. The blocks are manufactured by bonding highly polished slips of granite onto dense concrete backing blocks to create stunning masonry with an unrivalled sheen. We have also developed enhanced production techniques for this product range that enable us to manufacture a selection of special shaped units such as quoins and blocks with polished ends and soffits etc.
Decorative and Dramatic
Split Facing Masonry has the appearance of rustic stone with random and uneven contours, however all four arrises of the blocks are clearly defined enabling site teams to lay them without any added complications. Naturally robust it is both decorative and load-bearing and so Split masonry can be used to great effect on large areas of walling. However the appearance can also be softened by combining it with other textures such as our “Weathered” finish.
Aged and gently rounded
This finish which is created by blasting the blocks with non-ferrous shot, has an open surface texture. In addition the process softens the edges of the blocks leaving them with gently rounded arrises. The overall impression is that the masonry has been left to weather by the elements for many years.
Whilst we have offered the “Weathered” finish in our Original and Riverbed ranges for many years, we now produce a more fine “Textured” effect in our Premier range. Premier Textured blocks exhibit a more subtle aged stone effect and have the added benefit of containing a high proportion of recycled and secondary aggregates.
Emulating timeless natureOur Natural Facing Masonry is designed for internal and external situations combining inherent decorative appeal with strength and durability. The fine surface texture of these blocks created by our choice of carefully selected raw materials gives designers a broad palette with which to work.
Our Roman Bricks are 440mm long x 65mm high. So they’re the length of a block with the height of a brick, and they only weigh about 6kg. This means they’re easier to lay than conventional 440x215mm facing blocks. The elongated appearance chimes with other contemporary materials and also with cutting edge building design. We can offer the Roman Brick format in most of our Facing Masonry finishes – Polished, Planished, Weathered, Textured and Split – It’s changing the look of facing blockwork.
