Lignacite Ltd was founded in 1947, we are celebrating our 70th anniversary this year.
We now operate from two highly mechanised, modern plants at Brandon in Suffolk and Nazeing in Essex. From a single product, we now offer over 14 ranges of different masonry.
Our blocks have been used in projects such as The Gherkin, The Shard, The Olympic Stadium, Canary Wharf and both Heathrow and Stansted airports.
We also supply many of the major house builders who recognise the value and importance of using sustainable and recycled materials.
Much has changed over the years; however our core values and principles have endured. We remain dedicated to supplying added value, bespoke concrete and masonry which is designed, sourced and manufactured in the UK.
From the early days of using local wood shavings, to today, where every Lignacite product contains a high degree of recycled and waste material.
From a single product, we now produce a range of blocks to meet every need. These vary from lightweight for use by housebuilders to high density structural blocks such as those which support The Shard or form the central core of The Gherkin.
We have recently produced the first Carbon negative block of its type in the industry.
That is to say it locks up more C02 than is released in its manufacture and distribution; providing carbon capture on a significant scale.
Our Architectural Facing Masonry (AFM) is available in a range of over 300 combinations of texture, colour and size.
Our Roman Brick is designed with the bricklayer in mind. It is twice the length of a conventional brick, offering improved efficiency in speed of construction and material handling.
All our products contain recycled material.
Lignacite, our original block, contains 50% whereas our lightweight Ashlite block contains over 90% including ash, glass, wood and waste from blast furnaces.
All our delivery vehicles are Euro 6 compliant and our transport fleet is fully FORS Gold accredited which enables us to deliver our blocks throughout congested central London.
We are committed to continuing an extensive R&D programme ensuring we stay at the cutting edge of the construction industry.
